On the side of one of my oil filter cans there is a big yellow sticker that says "USE DIESEL FUEL ONLY" "fuel injection pump compensator bypassed......"
I would assume this means my engine is no longer multi fuel? I am confused though because they guy i got the truck from says whats in the tank now is diesel/oil mix & it runs fine. Any insight would be much appreciated.[

It is still a "multi-fuel" , they just eliminated one of the common fuel leaks that fill the oil with diesel. One less thing on a new owners "to do list" as it's already done.

It is commonly called " fuel density compensator " or "FDC" . If you search either of those in the deuce forum you will find dozens of threads on how to do it.

Ahh...ok. I was hoping this was the case. I am pretty stoked about being able to use waste oil as a fuel source as i pretty much have an unlimited supply. (Lots of friends/family in work in auto shops) The sticker is very confusing, it clearly says in big letters right at the top USE DIESEL FUEL ONLY but as long as i still have mulit fuel capabilities im a happy guy.

Keep in mind the multi-fuel motor was designed to run most anything as a last resort to get them back to a safe area in hostile conditions. Waste oil no matter how clean you filter it will still have fine particles and acids in that shorten the life of the injection pump and other engine parts. It will also give you much shorter filter life. Kind of the save now and pay later type thing.

Thanks porky for that reminder. The short story for me is "just because you CAN does not mean you SHOULD".

The military cares about getting the mission done. If that means you have to put some mystery stuff in the tank that burns and gets you there, so be it. Ideally, the truck will make it back to the FOB after, but that is really just a bonus. If the IP bites the dust, who cares. There is a new or rebuilt crate engine waiting to be swapped in, courtesy of the taxpayer.

Unless you can throw the same amount of money at your truck, it is probably wise to stay away from activities that kill it. People that tell me "that truck can take any abuse" always make me chuckle. If it was their credit card I charge the repair parts and labour to, they would sing a different tune. Just look at the work and lube cost required after a simple immersion in water over the axles...

Just because there is a sticker on the oil filters you need to take a pic and show us or read up and be sure it is bypassed. I have seen the sticker on one engine but the FDC was not bypassed.

As a taxpayer and vet , I would much prefer to pay for an engine then a "pine box". That's what the "multi" was for when someone was trying to kill you.2cents
