Fuel Tank Vent?

When ever I open my fuel cap I hear a hssss that only lasts a second or two. Is there a vent that I may need to check or is this normal?

I thought the cap was self venting. I have never heard a hiss from mine before. Might be time for a new cap.

Also the gauge goes to full and then reads after filling. Is that related or just a wacky gauge?

mine hisses too especialy after 4 wheeling

It's on E so I put $20 in the get in the turn the ignition on. Gauge goes a little past full and slowly returns to about 1/4-1/8 of tank.

Something's wrong there for sure.

One of the steps in the -20 for changing the fuel filter is to remove the fuel tank cap to release the pressure. So I would say it is OK.
