Fuel Tanks A2 type

Has anyone replaced their old 1985-90 fuel tank with one of the newer ones? My understanding is they will not fit due to the old style brake arrangement. Just wondering if there is chance they might work.

Yes, I have. You need the new A2 style mount, but AMG has them instock and cheap. Easy to do. But it cant be done if you still have the "original" style the parking brake on the driveshaft. A good thread about it here. http://g503.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=102453 Part #10 in the parts call out is what you need to change over.

Many thanks there Emmado......maybe one of our parts guys will catch this thread and i can purchase the A2 mount and related parts for the conversion. I want to have them in stock so if my old tank goes bad i can swap over. HAPPY NEW YEAR !!

Keep your eyes out on ebay for the part. Beltfed34 on ebay is where I got mine for 30 or so. Or you can grind off the 2 tabs for the old style parking brake. You can only do this mod if you have the parking brakes on the 1/2 shafts.
