I got an email from GEICO Wednesday AM about my new ID cards. Four vehicles only.

I went with GEICO in October for HMMWV insurance - combined with my Tacoma I was going to SAVE about $500 a year with both cars over what USAA was charging me for the Tacoma alone. Added 3 other cars in Dec., wound up saving about $2,000 a year for same coverages.

I sent an email (I wanted a record) and reply came minutes later. GEICO's not covering MVs.

This bites.

In the last 48 hours I've been told Allstate, Farmers, Progressive, Elephant don't (by agents online and on phone), and was referred to Hagerty by Allstate. I have a policy pending (they want photopgraphs) for $630 a year.

I've got a few days off next week and will try some of the Farm bureau and other - absurdly - low-priced agencies others have mentioned before.

Anyone else get dropped? Check your account.

I was told quite sometime ago that USAA wouldn't insure a "former military vehicle", so switched companies there and then........
No "doom and gloom" but wanting to stay informed on whats going on around me and the hobby.
"Head on a swivel" ya know?
Situational awareness. Thanks, marchplummer.

I was directed to the "sticky" regarding insurance. The situation is fluid, the sticky not entirely up to date.

No doom-gloom intended (not directed at YOU) , that's merely "projection" on the part of others reading into my post.

Consider it FYI and move on if it doesn't apply to you personally.

Thanks for the helpful tips, folks.

Originally I had just removed this entire thread but I changed my mind.

Yes, there was some information in it but for the most part it does what all insurance threads do, degrade rapidly.

Funny thing, I got the PM, I added a little warning to the sticky but I just checked again and one thing that is up to date on the sticky is that you are not supposed to start new threads about insurance.

The sticky is up to date. Here's a refresher for those who won't read (or follow rules).

Some insurance companies will insure former MVs.
Some insurance companies will NOT insure former MVs.
Some insurance companies will cancel a policy written on a former MV.
Some insurance companies will NOT cancel a policy written on a former MV.

Bottom line, we don't talk about insurance.
