Does anyone know of a site where I can look up and see what Uncle Sam actually pays for these generators? We all see the second-hand price but I know the Gov pays much more....Interested to look up a couple of AMMPS and MEPs and see just how good of a deal they are...

That’s an interesting question!

Good deal for the branch of service? Taxpayer? For “your” needs? Or “mine?” I’d love to hear these viewpoints from members. What constitutes a good deal?

Not sure that it would do you any good. Looking at the used market place for a price or value would do a lot more for you. The government numbers would easily be ten times the cost of a good tested and ready to run machine.

There are several guys in the forums that offer daily commentary. They do the work to make these generators fully functional - and most of them will stand behind what they sell. Yes, you can save money by winning an auction. But sometimes that isn't always the least expensive way to get your GenSet.

Yeah, I can enter the NSN but still see no price ...

I am not so worried about the 'good deal', just interested in what was paid initially....Was talking to a guy that was using an ECU/Gen/Trailer to heat his kids play house...he paid $2700 for system....I know for fact that the system cost US Gov $100K....
Just interested to look up some more of the original prices...

The price indicated is the remaining / deprecated value of the item / apparatus sent to auction contractor by the department who is disposing of said item and is for accounting purposes only since the US Government doesn’t pay Taxes.

The US Military procures all items they need through a bidding process which is facilitated by DIBBS

The prices for these Generators vary greatly depending on how many units each contract asks for and other special requirements.

Only Companies with a valid and current CAGE are eligible to participate

Normally several veteran owned businesses who are in possession of a CAGE Number go to the manufacture of the item being solicited and request a quote. They then add x percent markup to the quote and submit their bid to DIBBS

For the DRASH/HDT gen/ecu trailers, it's the cost of the entire kit, including repair parts, tent, auxiliary heaters, etc. Everything together is why it's a $100k+ cost for that type of unit.

Some clarification(Keep in mind this is just what I gleaned from browsing the govplanet site).
SET means just the generator by itself with no trailer.
PU means "Power Unit" or a generator with a trailer.
PP means "Power Plant" this seems to have 2 designations.
1. For the 802 and 803 this means 2 sets mounted on 1 trailer with an AC synchronizer.
2. For 804 and up this means 2 sets on a 2 trailers with an AC synchronizer, however several were being sold as a pair so possibly they were sold to the military as a pair.

A note from me, I can't figure out for the life of me why the 804B by itself is more than an 804B with a trailer but I confirmed it with several postings so I don't know.
Another note is it doesn't seem to matter what year the unit was made, I found Libbys from 1993 cost the same as a Fermont from 2013. That also indicates it doesn't matter exactly which manufacturer produced the unit.

Probably because of the volume in which trailer mounted sets were purchased. While its MORE equipment, that was probably the standard outfit (due to weight and logistics of actually moving said equipment). The NSN for the genset alone probably had little sales activity, and the companies bidding can sell the 'speciality' SKU at a higher price point. No one ever said government contracting made any sense fiscally.

You have forgotten that there are also PP's, that are Two gen sets, on Two trailers. This is mostly 15-100 KW gen sets. ANMJQ-40B for instance. 30 Kw gen sets, two trailers and assorted cables, and distribution equipment. Cost, about 64 thousand.
