just a standard 12v relay

All relays are not the same! The glow plug relay coil is "isolated" from ground. If you use a "standard" ford style relay, it will not work.

Do a search, this has been covered in-depth.

ST-85 for a relay part number comes to mind. search that or other terms.

Napa sells them, its a ford glow plug relay #GPR110

I am sure this would have come up with a search but also check the cucv faq. It has the relay listed under the glow plug system. The faq is a sticky in the cucv forum. Give the man a fish or teach him how to fish.
