Finally after owning the truck for about a year I have found the time to get my CCKW on the road. I had to put new tires on and fix a few issues. A good friend rebuilt the carb and now it runs great. Changed the oil today and had a chance to drive her several miles. The truck was brought back from France. The M49 ring is complete with the trolly and has the original data plate. I plan to replace the yellow plug wires with something a little more period correct. I know most people on here like pics.

Its a 42 GMC CCKW 352 short wheel base version. SWB trucks were made to tow artillery.

I must have been too busy drooling to notice the Yeller Plug Wires.
Did PB sneak them on?

Thanks for keeping that sweet machine,
and please help my MV Porn addiction, by posting more pics.

A video of it running might have me running for a cigarette!

Good job, Thanks! ... Again!

It's beautiful Chuck. Yesterday was a gorgeous day for a ride. I took the Mule out to play for awhile. Sadly, I didn't get any pictures.

Nice truck. Great history. 30 MPH (wow) Gotta take the backroads with that speed.

She will cruise around 40mph. They are great fun to drive. Its actually the only large truck I know of that seems smaller than it is while going down the road.

The steering is very easy. Seems almost like power steering .

That's a mighty handsome CCKW you got there. I love the short w/b. Kind of looks like my truck's grandfather:wink: The WWII Deuces always remind me of my old friend Uncle Rich. He drove with the Red Ball Express. God rest his soul.

thank you for the comments. the CCKW kinda is the father to all tacticle cargo trucks. During WWII George S. Patton stated"The 2 1/2-ton truck is our most valuable weapon." in referring to the CCKW. Eisenhower is often quoted saying " without the CCKW we could not have won the war"

It was actually replaced by the M44 series that is so popular on steelsoldiers.
