Got the M814 Home

I got my M814 home. It is the one that was in Anneville, Pa. It isn't as rough as I originally thought but it needs a fair amount of work. The drag link was broken so I had to pull one off of my M818 to get the truck home. I also needed to replace the air line drain. Water was left in the tank and it froze and broke.

The truck needs a front bumper, a J-Pipe, and a sand blasting and paint job. It runs fine. I will get some pics up when I get my camera out. The drive home was uneventful.

Now I don't know if I should put the truck back together or use it for parts.

Good deal. My vote is just put her back tougher with some hemtt rims and some 1600's and have the largest land based aircraft carrier in Pa.

I do have the Hemitt rims for it.

It sound like the repairs needed are pretty minor, I'd say keep it. The M814's are neat trucks.

right now i am going to use it as a portable scaffold. I have garage repairs to make. lights and floor joists.

Anyone know where to get a 5 ton M809 drag link?

I am still on the hunt for a drag link. does anyone know if a drag link from a M39 series truck will fit and work on an M809 series truck?

I measured the M809 series drag link, it is 27 7/8" long. the M52 is 28 3 /4 " long. I don't know if that will matter or not. I am still planning on friday's trip.

My question is does 7/8" matter in a drag link length.

I got the proper drag link for it and a good bumper. So i am going to try and post some pics of it now.

Man that is one large truck... the long bed version looks huge. Have you driven it much?

I drove it home about 60 miles or so. It drives better then the other 5 tons i have driven. I think it is because of the weight of it.

Can you guys tell where I might find a Drag link for a M51A2 Dump truck ?? I need one to recover the truck because I am going to tow it 200 miles ??
