Just thought I would let people know about my experience with Govplanet auctions. This probably applies to anyone thinking about purchasing a M1078 or M1083 from any GovPlanet auction. Firstly: dont bid on a truck unless you physically inspect the truck at the auction site before you bid on it. You can do this, it's in the auction rules that you are allowed to inspect it, do so as thoroughly as possible and if you can bring a second set of eyes to help thats even better. Secondly: expect to wait six months before the truck is released. This is a long time for a vehicle to be sitting out in the weather. If your truck is hit by a tornado, tsunami, heavy snow etc.. GovPlanet is not responsible. Another hidden problem with the wait time is that there is a good chance of pieces disappearing off your truck, GovPlanet will not be responsible for that. Spare tires, CTIS control panels, circuit breakers turret tops are most common pilfered items, GovPlanet will not give a ****. Thirdly check with your state about licensing and titles for your truck, even if you are allowed to make it street legal it may cost more than really want to pay. CA
sucks and it may be possible to make a lmtv/fmtv street legal but good luck with that. Best thing to do would be to find someone in your area who has done it, and learn from them. Fourthly: GovPlanet will not send you an SF97 you must pick it up when you pick up your vehicle. Dont expect it in the mail. Fithly add 20% over the purchase price for auction fees taxes and the SF97. The more you pay the more you will owe. Number six when you pick up your vehicle expect the unexpected. The batteries will be dead, thats almost guaranteed bring four batteries of your choosing when you go to pick it up. Bring tools and a friend if you are planning on driving it home. Lastly: If anything is wrong with the vehicle when you take possession of it it's your problem and GovPlanet will not give a ****. For the most part GovPlanet is a bunch of slimy used truck salesmen and a very large portion of their inventory requires major repairs and/or maintenance. They will never ever admit fault or liability for any defects in your truck. With GovPlanet "Caveat Emptor" Buyer Beware. Thanks hope this helps someone.

Govplanet is responsible for any damage, even an act of God, while in their possession, especially during the euc process. This is why they have insurance. A tornado that comes thru and tosses trucks they can't tell an owner to kick rocks. Unfortunately for them the truck does not belong to the buyer until the EUC clears.

Euc's take 3 weeks to 6 months.

There is a thread here on how to get an sf97 from govplanet. Especially if they are being slow or stubborn and they seem to promptly respond and send a sf97.

Not all yards allow inspection. It simply depends. Some yards are not manned at all.

Anyone who has ever dealt with any military trucks from an auction knows it needs batteries. Only 2 are required.

Yeah, no. These are all Gov Planet's responsibilities. You need to read the fine print, retain a lawyer and contact GP.

And if you were around for the GL days you would know way more things were stolen from trucks sitting waiting on EUC than with GP
Gl love "file photos" so if you didn't inspect the truck it might not even be the one in the pictures

Thank- you everyone for the informative replies, some realistic expectations and discussions about buying these awesome trucks should be of help to many people looking to shell out hard earned cash to purchase one. Simp5782, I have been told by GovPlanet that are absolutely not responsible for anything having to do with weather, waterdamage, wind rain etc.... I'm happy if your experience has led you to believe they will "make things right" if something happens to your truck during your approval period, but that was not my experience and perspective buyers should understand that a lot things can happen in 3 to 6 months of sitting out uncovered in the weather. I appreciate your opinion but I can site 2 specific examples were GovPlanet has completely dodged liability for things that I had no control over and cost me a fair bit of money to fix. If you have a real experience with a problem you had when picking up a vehicle then please share with us the problem and the resolution, so as to help people who may encounter a similar situation. This is all good information for people looking purchase from GovPlanet. Stay Healthy everyone!!!

I've had some very good and very bad trucks come from Hawaii. I get 2-3 people a month asking me about how to ship them to the mainland and it's a long messy ordeal even if you get lucky. The truck has to be worth it. Besides.. there's a buyer there shipping everything out of country so the $500 relisted trucks are gone for now. With EUCs on hold it's truly gone for now.

That's a great thing for prospective buyers to know. I have had then shipped inter island and it is about 2K and the shipping company does not take un-registered, un-insured vehicles. I have heard there is an exception if the vehicle is considered for agricultural use, but I cant speak from experience on that loophole. I've looked into having them shipped to the mainland and came to the conclusion it would be cheaper to buy one here on the mainland if I wanted one here. Thanks for the info.
