I know someone is going to tell me to use the search engine first, but I already did that, and got some info. but none that answers my question. Gulfway told me the normal "no hauling for profit," but also said I could not use my deuce to pick up a 50 lb bag of grain at the feed store. She stated it was not to be used as a pickup truck. So for all you guys with Gulfway insurance, are you really only using your trucks for display? I don't believe it...
Does anyone use their trucks for barkdust, hay, firewood, dump runs, etc?
I would like to insure my truck properly, only use it 500-1000 miles, and still be able to use it as a truck on a limited basis.aua
Any help or guidance from the wise ones would be much appreciated.

Hagerty is the same way.. no telling how many people here just took the pic in someone else's garage.

Its not setup to haul people in the back so your can't.. I said it has "troop seats", I wouldn't say thats true. I said so I can't even put Boy Scouts in it and do a parade or two? She said no.

No wonder they are so cheap because you can't use it for anything.

I wanted to be able to use my truck so I FINALLY got Farm Bureau to do it for 260 a year liability, and they don't care what I do with it, as long as I don't have a plate on it.

I use Progressive. I have told them exactly what I have and who drives the trucks. They have been very fair. No complaints. I have 2 M35s, 1 M275, 1 M37, and a G-506. When the trucks are driven, insurance is not my worry.

I have my Deuce insured through Erie on a commerical policy for $300 per year, just liability. They charged me the same rate on a F-450 dump truck, I registered as a farm truck.

I used to be a level II Claims Manager for Progressive. I can honestly say I felt they had the best claims service of any of the companies I dealt with and that's not because I worked for them. There's always going to be someone that's not satisfied with them but I felt, as a company, they tried to be as fair as possible. I worked there 10 years though and never saw an MV in an accident once.

If any one does have to deal with them on a claim PM me and I'll try to help out as best I can.

I called and they said personal trucks couldn't haul more than 1 ton, and then they transfered me to commercial, and they said they don't insure military vehicles period. How are they insuring M35A2s if they don't inusre MV's?

Is it really a military vehicle once its no longer owned by the military? May just be a play on words without the person who was playing actually understand what it was they were telling you.

Maybe state laws have an impact on how they can write a policy....
My gulfway policy is a commercial policy underwritten by St. Paul / The Travelers Insurance.

What's going on here?

It wasn't three months ago that everyone was raveing about Gulfway was the way to go. What changed?

I had my deuce ensurede with Continental Western which was a very restrictive collecter policy. I changed to Gulfway about three, maybe four months ago and it seemed to be a good move with a lot less restrictions. Now I here this. What happened?

I use progressive as well. No mileage or storage issues, just no "for hire commercial use".
I think I'm allowed to haul any personal stuff though.
Cost $118.00 every 6 months...liability only though.
I feel safe enough with that because I will put maybe 500 miles a year on her and most of that with escort or in a convoy.

Thats why I called Gulfway today, because I heard everyone here liked them! But I talked to Carol today and she said this is ins. is not made for anything but going to parades and shows. She said a trip to the feed store would be causing to much extra exposure and the plan rates weren't made for it. I can't afford to have a load of feed in the truck and get in an accident and have none of it covered! What do I do?

I remember 3to4 months back hearing and reading all the raves about Gulfway too. I guess it must still be true " If it sounds to good to be true than it probably is " I would guess some of it might be due to the new and improved 2009 world economy. I thought I heard the sound of 4 horseman just the other day:twisted:
