Off road ok, having 5gal fuel cans as a rear bumper, not so good. As a tanker they were called bustle racks unless you were like my crew and 1/2 of the stuff in ours was more than what was on the load plan and got the Gypsy/Pack Rat title. Most Gypsy racks
I have seen are outside. The M1009 CUCV had a 1 can holder mounted inside.

I've got a couple of gypsy racks off of a LTMV. They are great, but will take some modification to fit on my M-42 and the M101A1 trailer.

I like the fact that they are aluminum.

They will be mounted on the tail gate of both the truck and trailer. One of the nice things about them (besides being aluminum) is that they fold flat when not in use.

I'll try to get a couple of photos this weekend. You need to remember though, that I'm in the middle of modifying them (I want to add a tool rack and I have to add a piece of aluminum channel to hang them on the tail gates and then they will be bolted to the tail gate using the tool rack holes and spacers). So, they won't be painted. You should get a pretty good idea of how they work.

They were mounted on the LTMV on the sides toward the rear. I saw a picture of them once, but I don't remember where I saw it. They may also be used on the V-100's. I didn't pay much attention to the vehicles; I just wanted the racks.

I bought from someone on this site about 2 to 3 years ago. They came from California as I recall.

Those might be part of the "mothership" modifications that SOF did to the LMTVs they brought into either Iraq or Afghanistan at the beginning. A way to hold more without extensive modifications (remember they deployed with only a few weeks notice and not exactly how they planned, read up on it in "All Roads Lead to Baghdad" if you can get a copy.
