1983 M923A1 5-Ton NHC-250 Diesel non-turbo....

Looking for some input whether it be pro or con on this Air Ram. Is it worth the money for this upgrade , typically a larger surface area is a good thing forcing more air in. I'm sure there is a lot of MV with this upgrade so are you satisfied with it or is it just overrated? I would appreciate any thoughts on this matter whether negative or positive.

Well any normal-aspirated diesel will benefit from 'more air' in the form of "boost" however delivered.
Fit a (Any) turbo, and cleaner burn, less emissions, and little more performance can result..
Looks good?
(Well) It's your truck. As 'they say'.. (So) you like it? Then you (By all means) do it.
Post up pictures of the fitment when completed.

Be careful! We’ve been down this road before. I’m not sure what model your looking at but if memory serves me correctly you need a 5”, that is only commonly availably from Australia for a pretty penny....

Jbulach....

Point well taken, and you are correct about Australia I have seen a lot of these air rams and when you go a little further you actually see it coming from overseas. Does Donaldson have some sort of corporate office down under?

I have been looking for a 4 inch. they make it. only thing I can find in U.S. so far is 3.5 inch and less. and a lot of china made. I just want one for sure known to shed water well. but I may actually go with a pre-cleaner instead of ram head.
yes for some reason snorkels are all from Australia.

Yes only available from Australia...I’ve purchased my 4” & 5” Air Rams from Western Filters in Australia, they did a great job of immediately packaging & shipping my orders. Didn’t have to pay any customs duties at the time (about 2 years ago), but YMMV.

Is that a 4 inch and where are you getting it. i have been looking for a donaldson or safari 4 inch head but no U.S. sellers.

thanks
I did some digging, check my numbers before you order!

Looks like H001654 in the title of this tread is a 7” inlet!

H008154 that is in the title of 74m’s thread is a 4” needed for the deuce.

H008150 is the 5” needed for the 5 ton, looks to be $80 and up from Australia...

Let me know if you find any of this to be incorrect, so I can edit. Maybe OP can add clarification in the first post...

I took the same avenue as Silver State. price was, about 110$ delivered from Aussie They provided very good quick service , took about 5 days to get it . Good quality , fits great Rugged. I do notice an increase in performance never bothered to measure it, Did Air filter upgrade and pyrometer at the same time <
