Well today, Oct. 08, two years ago I took delivery of M818. So, I guess you can call it an anniversary. I'm one who feels like I never get anything done...always seem to have a time deficit. So to put the last two years into perspective, I decided to list my accomplishments as far as repairs, maintenance and upgrades go to my 5-T.
I have also posted then (10-08-09) and now photos.
Thanks to all who have given me advice on various subjects and those who have followed my progress. I could not do this without you all.
October ‘09
· New air cleaner to intake duct elbow and stainless steel hose clamps (10-09)
· New brake and clutch pedal rubber pads (10-09)
· Installed 12” X 17” rubber mud flaps on front fenders
· Rubber floor mats
· Added two new red reflectors to right/rear and left/rear sides of bed,
· Replaced glove box seal (10-09)
· Replaced driver and passenger window to cab seals (10-09)
· Replaced cowl to windshield seal (10-09)
· Replaced passenger and driver door latch vertical side and bottom seals (10-09)
· Replaced driver and passengers door vertical hinge side seals (10-09)
· Replaced driver and passenger door window slot outside seals (10-09)
· New right and left hood side panel rubber flap seals
December ‘09
· Replaced cab ventilator seals (12-09)
January ‘10
· All new Viton O-rings on all six fuel injectors (01-10)
February ‘10
· New Fleetguard oil filter and 27qts. Rotella 15W-40 crankcase oil (02-07-10 @ 16230 mi.)
March ‘10
· New windshield installed on driver’s side (03-14-10)
· New windshield wiper blades (03-14-10)
· New canvas tailgate chains installed (03-14-10)
· Replaced two red taillight and two red tailgate reflectors. Replaced front/left and front/right bed, rear toolbox and spare tire rack amber reflectors (4) (03-10).
· New integrated mirror/wide angle mirrors installed (03-10).
· Right and left headlight bracket rubber baffles and hood to radiator baffle replaced (03-10).
· Fuel tank selector valve (“spider valve”) removed. All flexible fuel lines from right tank to filter and from filter to injector pump replaced with new Buna-N rubber push-on style hose and fittings (03-10).
· Locking ball valve installed on inlet side of fuel filter (03-10)
.Water separator fuel filter installed (03-10)
April ‘10
· New turn signal flasher control unit and turn signal switch installed (04-10).
· Hidden master battery rotary switch installed (04-18-10).
· Screw-in flag poles holders installed in left and right front bumper. (04-10)
· Multi-use fire extinguisher with bracket installed on cab tunnel under passenger seat. (04-10)
May ‘10
· New muffler installed. Muffler support bracket sandblasted and repainted with high temperature paint. Dipstick tube wire brushed and repainted with high temperature paint. (05-01-10)
· Heater box repainted, re-cored and reinstalled. (05-01-10)
· Installed straight exhaust stack w/ rain-cap (flapper), repainted and reinstalled exhaust heat shield. (05-07-10)
· Installed new fuel filter. (05-07-10)
· Installed new return fuel line at fuel pump. (05-07-10)
· Reinstalled heater hot water hoses. (05-13-10)
· Installed new 4” heater air ducting in engine compartment. (05-13-10)
June ‘10
· Installed new 4” heater air ducting under dashboard to diverter box and new 3” and 3 ¼” defroster ducting to defroster vents (06-16-10).
· Installed new rubber hump hose and clamps on air intake tube and intake manifold (06-27-10).
August ‘10
· Drained and removed left fuel tank (08-15-10).
September ‘10
· 36”X18”X18” Buyers Tool/storage box installed in place of left fuel tank (09-04-10).
· Assembled, modified (shortened) and installed new fiberglass/steel headrack, headache rack and troopseats from Stephan Wood Product on cargo bed (09-20-10).
November ‘10
· Installed Deuce splash guards/mud flaps on rear (11-14-10).
· Installed M817/M51 Dump Truck fuel tank protectors/splash guards amidships (11-14-10).
· Trailer (fifth wheel) service air connection valve remove and line capped (11-14-10).
January ‘11
· Bottom replaced on original behind-cab tool/utility box (12-10).
· Additional behind-cab tool/utility box shimmed and stacked with original box (01-08-11). Pioneer tool rack re-installed on top toolbox.
· I/2” quick connect socket air tool line installed with shut-off ball valve installed (01-08-11).
· Red/white conspicuity tape applied to rear mudguards (01-08-11).
February ‘11
· Jerry can holders installed on right/rear mudguard (w/ red/white conspicuity tape) and on behind-cab tool/utility box (02-21-11).
· Yellow conspicuity tape applied to front bumper ends (02-21-11).
· Headlight stone guards installed (02-21-11).
March ‘11
· Taillights relocated and rewired from rear frame crossmember to under-bed frame rail (03-27-11).
· LED type composite red taillights installed (03-27-11).
· Lighted aluminum license plate bracket fabricated and attached to left/rear taillight bracket (03-27-11).
May ‘11
· Neoprene bumpers installed below tailgate to stop tailgate swing (05-05-11).
· Bridge/classification sign plate kit installed on front grille (05-19-11).
· New windshield installed on passenger’s side (05-22-11).
June ‘11
· Installed new Truck-lite LED type headlights (06-12-11).
· Installed new LED type Truck-lite right and left front composite amber turn signals (06-12-11).
· Installed new Truck-lite LED type blackout drive light (06-16-11).
· Installed new LED type high beam indicator on dashboard instrument cluster (06-18-11).
August ‘11
· Fuel tank replaced with cleaned and re-soldered tank. Tank was primed and painted. New felt installed on frame brackets and mounting straps. (08-14-11).
· Fan, alternator, power steering and water pump belts replaced (08-20-11).
· All coolant hoses replaced (08-22-11).
· Coolant system filled with new Zerex HD coolant (08-20-11).
· Replaced coolant surge tank. Installed NOS coolant surge tank and associated return and vent line (08-22-11).
· Installed 10 Goodyear G177 11.00R20 Radial Tires plus one spare replacing 11.00-20 NDT tires (08-25-11).
· Relocated pioneer rack to right front fender utilizing a quick removal system (08-26-11).
· Replaced rubber air compressor intake hoses (08-26-11)
September ‘11
· Replaced horn wire, horn contact brush (to include rubber gasket) on steering column and replaced horn button with later style small horn button (09-11-11)
· Installed new M35A3 style steering wheel (09-11-11).
· Replaced steering column upper and lower bracket rubber bushings (09-11-11)
October ‘11
· Transfer case air declutch cylinder cleaned and rebuilt (new seals and gaskets) (10-08-11).
· Forward and reverse rubber air declutch hoses replaced (10-08-11).
· Twin poppet valve rubber air supply hose replaced (10-08-11).
· New transmission gear shifter boot installed (10-08-11).
· Wired front turn signals for marker light operation in service drive (installed jumper with diode between 16 and 491 wire) (10-08-11).
