If someone were interested in purchasing a hardtop (winter enclosure) for a deuce or M39 or 800 series 5 ton, it might be helpful for them to know that hardtops made for 900 series 5 tons (which are wider than deuce/M39/800 series) have a total of 20 mounting holes along the back of the cab, 14 of which are in a straight line. These 900 series hard tops also have a data plate which is misleading.

Per forum rules, please do not make any connections between the information contained within this post and any present or future availability of hard tops.

For the record, my hard top enclosure for my M939 series truck on the data plate states it is for a 5 ton as well as a 2.5 ton and that is obviously not the case. It is strictly a 5 ton M939 enclosure.

Dont worry ranchhopper, I've had my own "live and learn" experience at my own exspense. I'm willing to either just take a chance, at my own exspense, or do my own preview or contact someone to preview for me. Im all for helping each other out, but not by breaking the rules when doing it.

So, it's wider, and the mounting holes don't line up? Is that it? I couldn't find any deuce hardtops on the west coast for a reasonable price, so I bought a brand new 900 series hardtop, and was planning on cutting it down to the right size (to fit the smaller cab). That should work, right?

Yes, its a bit wider. You should be able to section it to make it work well.
