has anybody made a capstan winch for CUCV ?

How did you do it ? Construct a special wheel? Wheel adapter? Use a dual wheel someway? Something like this :

I thought about it for a deuce. Your best bet would be a plate bolted in on thimbles and have a smaller diam spool welded to that. One on each side would be best.

Also, that pic is a marketing ploy. If you think about it, they don't work in that situation. The tire would move farther than the "winch line" is taken up. Therefor making a big hassle for you, even trouble, if you run it over with the rear wheels.

I think it would work if your are tires spinning, like if your truck is already stuck. The problem that I see is that you have to have a locker in the axle that the capstan is attached to.
