OK, I'm weighing in with my 2cents suggestion.....

FED-EX - - - for when it absolutely positively must be DESTROYED overnight.... OOPS - I mean "delivered overnight".

And....

No matter what you decide, or how you're going to haul it, PLEASE remember......

Someday, we'll all look back on this roadtrip and say, " Jed Clampett (Beverly Hillbillies) would have been PROUD!"

Come and listen to my story about a man named Kenny
Needed a gassser frame but didn't have any
Then one day at a SteelSoldiers meetin
He found him a frame that had taken a beatin

Green Iron that is....prime scrap....had to have it

The next thing you know ole Kenny's headed got a deal
Price was right he really got a steal
All he had to do was was to get it to his home
Thats when he started to piss and moan

Needed ideas.....lost in the sauce....what to do

Okay....I got nothing else....guess we'll have to wait until the rally to finish this one.

Personally, I'm thinking it won't be that easy. You would want to keep the front springs etc. Also the rear suspension (not necessarily the axle). This will gain several hundred pounds at least, and it won't lay flat like a frame.

Even without the springs, the reas suspension stuff will stick out too far to hang it on the side or under the truck. Not that this deal will pan out but if it does, I will most likely build a sturdy plumbing rack and put the frame overhead. I would also likely build some supports from 2 1/2 box quarter wall and bolt it to the gasser frame and then pin that to the front shackle mounts.

Thanks WM... You have LOTS of time on your hands, don't you????

:funny::nothingfunny:

Aw NUTS... Back to the testicle support..... I mean TECHNICAL support.....

The overhead idea sounds reasonable, but be sure the drive is aware of the VERY HIGH Center Of Gravity and it's effects on the truck handling characteristics..... Don't be driving like you're competing in the LeMans !

Yeah, I don't drive it like I stole it anymore. Probably feel like a shop van. Slow and steady gets me home every year. This year I wasn't planning on having a truckload of junk on the way back. Somehow that's falling through. If this frame thing doesn't work out, and I'm not expecting it to anymore, I'm going to do my best to travel light on the way home with the exception of the pioneer tool trailer. I'm wondering if I can travel light enough to drive the M1008?

Hey Kenney your more than welcome to store the frame at my parents house for a few months. We are about 100 miles NE of the rally. We got plenty of room up there.
Plus when I get home I plan to make a trip down your way so its no bother if theres no rush.

Thanks Brannan. It's unlikely that this deal will come together and even more unlikely that I would finish the project in this millenium. Took me 2 years to swap turbos and install the winch and it still doesn't have the PTO installed yet. It will be a miracle if I can get the front axle re-booted before the rally.

Hey Kenny,

I guess you are due a trip to Dirt71's shop for some inspiration.

You could have him start the project and if time permits you finish up. Otherwise you know he has the equipment for the job, just at what cost.

Kenny, don't plan on spending ALL your money at the rally. I have really cheap transport rates!!
All BS aside, just put it on my trailer. Should have told me a couple week ago you wanted one. Just cut one up (with data plate) and sent it to the scrapper. Just out of curiousity, what makes a gasser frame special?

It's just my weird ways. Gasser frames are not much different but I like oldness of it. Sadly, I don't play well with gasoline engines so .......well, there you have it. Another cool feature is a 5 or 6 character VIN.

Oh, nonotagain, I was just up there getting a trailer and I've been kicking myself in the backside for not stopping by his shop.

Does it have a Guam title? Brother David Doyle wouldn't let me get near an erdilator truck. With that said, I do have some of them there fancy lifting drive flanges on the front axle.

Hmmmm,I AM driving the 915 and M172A1 lowboy to the rally,How many days is it to FL and back?
In the 915 figure around 12 hours to Kenny's place depending on traffic and how many traffic jams you hit. That is my guesstimate.....I was driving an 82 MPH Freightliner the last time I made that trip.
