Does anyone have some photos of the rack used on the M756a2 and/or the M764 truck? The more the better! I have found a couple of line drawings in the Tm's but would like some more complete shots.

There are great photos. Thank you! I am thinking about something between the box and cab of a bobbed deuce. Maybe they should take away my pipe bender and welder.

What is the official purpose of such a mod? Looks to me it serves a good location to mount tools, lights, etc, but was there another purpose?

Yeah, it supported the A-Frame so that it could be winched into position over the rear of the truck. The A-Frame is very heavy and doing it by hand would be tough. Check the pics in the link and you wil see one of the A-Frame sitting on the rack.
