Yea, I know. I'm going to try and drive it to the store real quick. I just pulled the regulator out. I think she's done, internet shopping here I come.
Before you install a new regulator go through the entire troubleshooting guide to make sure there is no problem with the alternator itself, 90% of all 200A problems are the reg but that 10% could cost you big dineros

Thank you for you help Mogman, but this has already cost me big dineros. I'm pretty sure I know what happened and no I don't want to talk about it.

So this is were I'm at. Iv got a new regulator on the way. Now I need to check the generator, protective control box and charging circuit. Briefly skimmed the TMs and found over a thousand references to those key search terms. I dont know what to start on first, guess I'll start with the -10 first and go from there. I'm going to be reading all day

Still go through the troubleshooting guide, if for example the batteries were hooked up backwards there are some diodes in the alt that could possibly be damaged and could fry the new reg right away, you don't need to search the web as the instructions are pretty straight forward.
The whole idea of the PCB was to protect the vehicle if the batteries were connected backwards originally all the alt (60A) connections went through the box but when the went to larger alternators they connected them directly to the batteries as the PCB could not handle the extra current.
Therefor the PCB would likely be OK but the 200A alternator does not have any protection.
Not saying that is what happened but that is a relatively common mistake made by new owners.

Thank you, I'm currently reading the 20-1, but haven't gotten that far yet. I'm not putting the new regulator on until I'm sure everything else is okay.

The troubleshooting guide by the manufacturer is a much simpler and easier to understand flow chart than the military TMs.
It doesn't have very many things to actually check to be honest, so you will find it MUCH simpler and easier than the 20 level manuals

Iv gone through the alternator and protective control box trouble shooting sections.

I can't complete the full trouble shooting for the alternator because I don't have a regulator. Nor can I do the troubleshooting for the PCB because I don't have one. Apparently I have an ESSV if I remember correctly, which isn't servicable or even testable with out the proper equipment.

Tonight I'm pulling out the alternator and checking the continuity of the whole charging circuit. I'm pretty sure all the leads are fine, but I just have to know. I already have a new regulator on order but I'm hesitant to put it on the old alternator. I called a alternator/starter specialist shop and they don't want to mess with it but offered to order me a new one, thanks but I could do that myself. Which is what I may end up doing. Then I'll keep the old one on top of my toolbox with a sign written on it "don't forget to disconnect the batteries this time".
