I am located in Bartlett. HMMWVs are getting cheaper luckily. Buying from an individual may cost a little more but you don't have the EUC wait time of GovPlanet especially with it being your first purchase. Plus the unknown of the auction.

How long is the wait time? I ask because I'm a least a year out from buying one. Is this something I can get while I'm getting my funds together? Where do private owners list other than here?

Craigslist sellers are a little costly. Euc wait time for your first go around can be 45 to 90 days it just depends.

Welcome from socialist occupied Maryland.

Soon to be a permanent resident of "The Volunteer State", working towards retiring on a farm just west of Columbia, TN.

Enjoy your stay here.

Thanks for this.

I read more horror stories here about people who have bought one (or two) trucks at auction only to have one nightmare after the other with electric, transfer case, transmission, hub(s), cooling system issues and more.

I stalked this board (g503 and other places) for about a year before seriously looking at HMMWVs and my wife okayed it - I'd dealt with AIDS (Airplane-Induced Divorce Syndrome) 20 years ago and have several hobbies already - then looked at several dozen trucks before buying.

I'd bid on a HMMWV just outside Nashville, lost it by $50 then paid a premium on a secondary sale locally, but it was on-road titled, I got a really good look at it and a test drive, and STILL wound up replacing the TC, E3 box and more.

I'm loving every minute of it. Reminds me of when I was a third my age and contemplating medical or volkswagen mechanic's school; luckily, I chose the former, and my EX-wife got the VW. This was pre-airplane days. I'm on my last wife now and she's a keeper, we just celebrated 30 yrs together, 26 married.

Anyway - caffeine's starting to work and I've got patients waiting - just a tip: DOWNLOAD AND READ THE MANUALS. Or at least the operator's manual. AND the Lube order.

If you have them on your 'puter you can search for parts, procedures if you have questions. Nomenclature is important.

Above all, do have fun.
