I have been hovering around the site and am finally introducing myself. I bought a non-running M1078 in 2023, finally got it running last summer. Originally, I was after a M1079 and bought one last year, when one came up on auction. Great trucks, I guess the only thing they don't do well is go fast.

Check out the FMTV forum.

And look into ECO hubs for some easy gearing solution here...

Welcome to the Outfit!

I am guessing that you have already found and downloaded the TM's (Technical Manuals) for both vehicles?

Yes, I have now. The 1078 had a lot of parts cannibalized and I wasn't familiar with truck enough to know what I needed. The auxiliary starter solenoid stumped me for a while. The TM's would have made T/S a lot easier.
