What are these for? Where do they go?

The 1968 Deuce I recently acquired came with a ton of parts - Including a spare engine in the bottom half of the shipping can. Many of the parts came from the M35 A3 that replaced this truck. So, considering the fresh green paint, I'm guessing they are from either the A3 or the Spare Engine in the Crate.

The pictures below show the two MIRROR IMAGE (Left & Right) brackets. For size reference, they are on top of the drivers-side front fender and that's my cell phone for additional comparison.

Note the two holes in the vertical flange are NOT aligned but staggered.

Let me know what you think I've got here - feel free to include pics of where they go. I'm baffled.

THANKS in advance!

Never seen them on an a1 or a2.
Thanks for confirming that.

I'd not seen them on either either (sounds redundant, huh?).

Hence, I'm thinking that they were probably with "the engine in the can", but this is the my virgin experience with one of those...... <sigh>

They ARE nice heavy brackets that I can probably "battlefield iimprovise" into SOMETHING :grd: Maybe an underdash CB installation... :cookoo:

Does ANYONE have knowledge of "the engine in the can" hardware???

Those look about 3 1/2" or so, and about 3/16" - any chance you want to sell them? I have a project I'm working on....

Send me a PM.

Thanks,
Chris

Thanks for the interest in buying these brackets. At this time, they aren't going to my "DRMO". I too am considing an alternate use (other than CB Brackets), so they aren't surplus "yet". I'll definitely keep your interest in mind - and you're the first on the list - if they become available.

Just an FYI on the size...

Specs:
4-1/4" Wide
4" L - Long Leg
3" H - Short Leg (to Point)
3/16" Material Thickness
5/16" Dia. Holes (4 Places)
As shown, the pointed leg ends and their holes are asymetrical. The square legs and their holes ARE symetrical. The pair are Mirror-Immages of eachother.

Your guess-timation was so close, I almost think that you might SECRETLY know what they really are... And you are hoping to get some RARE COMPONENTS on the CHEAP - LOL

Really, I was thinking cab-to-frame, bed-to-frame, hood-to-cab, or possibly even radiator-to-frame...

But, if you happen to come across another set, I could use 4 for this idea I have...
