My M38a1 has an 11" brake conversion. I need to replace the wheel cylinders, shoes and drums but don't know what vehicle my brakes are from. Help in identifying my brakes is appreciated. The rear drum has the number 35582, the shoes 41717 and the wheel cylinder has no markings. Complete brake.jpgWheel cylinder.jpgDrum.jpg
The wheel cylinder bore is 1 1/8

Is that a common swap? Do you think the front brakes are the same?
Back in the 70s 80s this was a common swap. I do think all 4 positions are the same. I "vaguely" remember this being described as the "Ford 11" brake swap".

I bought an M38 Willys Jeep in 1967 and put 11" brakes on it. My memory says they were Wagoneer brakes. Looking at Wagoneer history they came out in 63 so that timing was possible. In the advertisement listed above, the seller says "Willys OEM", so I suggest looking at early Wagoneer brakes.

Those 11 inch brakes were great on the Willys. I had already put a vacuum boosted on the M-38 with 9" brakes. When the first stop was made with booster and 11" brakes it about threw me through the windshield.

Here this vendor seems to have this figured out:
11" Brake Upgrade Kits (willysjeepparts.com)
Their website says the kit is made up of Willys parts. I think you were on the right track with the Ford parts.

Thank you all for the replies. I think NDT nailed it as far as my M38a1 goes. I ordered brake parts for a 1968 Ford F100 and they seem to be an accurate match.
