Yep, that's the other way. Some prefer to use just the button for warming the gp's.

It has always been my experience when the lights get bright and dim you need an alternator or alt rebuild, whichever way you decide.

No. Some people do that, but I don't recommend it or you may have additional problems. I did install a button for emergencies only by splicing into the light blue wire going to the controller card under the dash. I never use it, but it does work. (first 2 pics below)

I would study and do the gp resistor bypass. Do a search as it is recommended. (pics 3-5 below)

I also would, and FIRST, do the doghead mod and make sure you use the part listed. It will save a stuck starter from burning up your wires which is costly. It may have been done, so you will have to look.
:ditto:

Yea im pretty sure its the gen1 alt. I think im going to get the duralast from autozone and then order an extra from rareelectric.
You can buy alot of Glow plug and alternater stuff from Cucvelectric.com

My GPs was on a push button and it worked good but I decided to put it back to stock condition. WAY better now! I replaced my GP card and relay and rebuilt alternater system from ther parts.
