I removed several hundred swell glow plugs from CUCV's over the past 30 years. I had to remove entire inner fenders and a steering shaft a few times. I never had to remove a cylinder head. I used a curved jaw locking pliers and went in thru the delivery nozzle hole and broke off the tip if needed. It always worked. But the hardest part was getting the inner fenders out. Many times, the truck I was working on ended up with new inner fenders and a few needed new fenders as the inner fender structure was rusted away on both sides. Some jobs start out as basic and end up costing thousands to complete correctly. But many just half fast the vehicles back together. Don't that. The CUCV is a valuable vehicle if maintained and kept stock. Ask me how I know. I sold a few for great money. Good Luck and Keep going. I doubt you will have a struggle getting them out. Get the tools and a cool shady area to work in.
