hey all i got a 86 m1009 i just want to know if ill be ok doing 65 - 70 mph on the highway its all stock drive train but i do run a 33x12.50 tire on it. i got to make a 5 hr one way all highway.

Have you guys ever tried sound deadening material with a vinyl overlay? LMC trucks has the overlay/flooring and there a bunch of people that provide a good water proof sound deadening material. This will probably be one of my first editions.

Seventy is no sweat for a good running M1009, not even eighty! Very noisy indeed, but most of the noise on mine is from the worn rubber window seals. Whistles like a tea kettle!

I did 65-70 on my trip home from picking up my 1009. Piece of cake. It was kinda loud though, but that wasn't a big deal for me.

I got clocked the other day at 85 from GSP, luckily a flash of the badge and all was well! Noisey indeed though!

The droning noise can be stopped. The civilian 6.2 came with a muffler looking plastic thing attached to the air cleaner base that ran all the way over to the passenger fender. This not only quiet's the droning intake noise but also let's the 6.2 breath cool air. Just go to your local salvage yard and for a few bucks you'll be able to even have a conversation or even talk on the cell phone with ease. I've got one on both my cucv's and would not part with them. Simple Fix.
