You may want to score yourself some of the 5 point torx bits so you can take the top off of the IP.
What did the fuel filter look like?

Not to bad, just old and cracked on the ends. I finally got it running. I pulled the check valve on the return line on the IP and cleaned it a bit, and had to crack each injector to purge air. Fired up and ran great. Just drove is like 10 miles and all normal.
