That is not the military but your friendly GP personnel or contractors......I'm waiting on my cdr replacement parts and selector switch before I try and start. It's crazy how they cut all the water fording parts off. And to top it off when they removed battery's they cut the tie down j bolts instead of unscrewing.
The insulated hose runs on to of engine below windshield. It is for driver floor heat and a/c. It clamps to a black plastic duct on each side. What are these two mystery items that were in the back of my humvee?View attachment 858256
Thank you!The insulated hose runs on to of engine below windshield. It is for driver floor heat and a/c. It clamps to a black plastic duct on each side.
Hose wrapped in foil looks like air conditioning and heating duct hose. Only say that because mine was left partially connected forward side of firewall. What are these two mystery items that were in the back of my humvee?View attachment 858256
Mine had 83 miles on it when it rolled off the trailer at my shop, fuel filter looked worse! The inside of your fuel tank is probably ugly too, the fuel system is one of my pet peeves. You will learn to love POWER SERVICE. Rebuilt my pump also (stay away from Chattanooga) and if there was moisture in the pump $600 is not going to cover it. Sorry for the bad news. Don't worry about the short hose you are going to need several feet of the stuff. Replace ALL of it. Fuel line, power steering lines, everything with a screw or squeeze clamp on it.There is info on here about the check valves in the system review them also. I see you are not afraid to take things apart, you are going to LOVE this truck. Fuel system is your first issue, need to be cleaned from one end to the other if not it will continue to bite you. As I peck this out one of mine is in the shop with the hood off and cooling stack out to fix a leaking front of the fan clutch.71 mile. 18 year old filter. Like new!View attachment 858255
I was trying to pull the top, but it has security torx bolts on it and my specialty tools are at my shop. I was going to try that before I replace. I did find a new old stock pump for $400, so that's on it's way. Those Stanadyne pumps tend to stick the metering valve when they have been sitting a few years. Sometimes all you have to do is remove the pump cover and move it a few times to free it up.
There are lots of YouTube videos that will guide you. The overhaul gasket/seal kit is about 65$.
I would look in the installed pump before you replace it, you might get lucky?I was trying to pull the top, but it has security torx bolts on it and my specialty tools are at my shop. I was going to try that before I replace. I did find a new old stock pump for $400, so that's on it's way.
Here is another pic of it.The other item looks like antenna mount but not hmmwv?
YOU OWN TOOLS!!! Way ahead of some that have bought these. There are some great amateur wrench spinners and a couple of masters on here, paying attention to them will serve you well. (Saves some money on silly stuff) If you are new to diesels there are a couple of minor things mostly fuel related other than that I would say you are off to a great start.I've been doing engine swaps and working on anything you can think of since 16, and I'm 46 now! Here's a 3.6 timing chain install on a 09 CTS. Also had to do rod bearings. It's just making sure you put everything back in the same place and that you don't have 2 or 3 extra bolts!
umm, that’s Coolant….so it appears your head gasket is toast. Have you drained the oil and pulled the filter? If that glycol is in the oil pan you got issues. Why would my oil have a green color to it? Like florescent green. It still is oily. Could coolant get in engine from just sitting for 18 years? In gas motors coolant in engine is from blown head gasket.View attachment 858185
Your waiting on parts that have zero to do with a running healthy motor…The hose is off the top of the injec pump because GP attempted to make it run,t hey get more money for running trucks.I'm waiting on my cdr replacement parts and selector switch before I try and start. It's crazy how they cut all the water fording parts off. And to top it off when they removed battery's they cut the tie down j bolts instead of unscrewing.
I'm going to drain oil today. I'll report back what I find.umm, that’s Coolant….so it appears your head gasket is toast. Have you drained the oil and pulled the filter? If that glycol is in the oil pan you got issues.
