Im heading to hooks tx from nebraska soon to pick up 3 m818s. I am thinking of towing two with one. Has anyone tried this? I had some problems when towing my 109 with my m35. The front tires on the 109 wanted to steer the opposite direction of my turn occasionally. Will I have this problem with the m818 trucks?

I have one big towbar and need another if anyone along my route(ne,ks,ok,tx) has one. I just need to tow the trucks to killeen (300 miiles)where I have a trailer that I will put the two trucks on.
TIA

Paging M1075 to this thread!! I think he has done something like this.

Maybe if you could find some ramps you could "piggyback" them like the OTR guys do?

Ramps? I would bet if someone held the brakes on the truck that is being mounted, the other truck could just climb up on. Just a couple of blocks to help get it started up and onto the rear tires, might do it. I don't know what you would do to attach it to the 5th wheel though.

Maybe towbars are, a better idea!

I have towed tandem a few times. It can be done, but that is a big load when using the same sized tow vehicle. I prefer to have a larger vehicle to tow with. When I had 2 bridge trucks to tow, I pulled them 300 miles with a M911 no problem. If you do it, be sure to hook up the brakes. It will be a slow ride. You can always have steering issues when cornering, so be prepared to correct that, if needed. I have a towbar in OKC you can use if needed. What trailer are you loading these on? I hope this is not going to be a M818/M872 with 2x M818s on the back!

Okay it looks like it is a m872 I dont know anything about them. I just downloaded the tm for them and am reading it now. Ive been hauling 900 bu (54000 lbs) of corn on my m818 (20000 lbs) in a 10000lb trailer here with no problems. I might not have a good top speed but there are brakes on all the axles so stopping shouldnt be a problem. Please tell me your concerns m1075, I know you have a lot more experience than I do on things mv.
Thanks, Ross
