Hello all, new here.... I have oil always around my canisters and it runs along the engine block to the bell housing.... for several months I thought it was the canisters leaking, but im not sure at this time.... I add new gaskets and snug the canisters down and its clean for the initial start up and warm up.. but then it just seems like it fills the gap between the canister and the gasket area. is this a iol cooler problem? how hard is this to change, and do I need any special tools, or alotted time?

another small question.... If the truck runs well, but has dark gray, to light black smoke when start up, and shifting, is this ok, or should it be looked at? I'm concerned about the EGT. I need to put the pyro on here soon, but im not sure if damage has been done since it came back from the garage. it runs at 56 mph at 2500 and is always run at no load condition. Any input to this is greatful too

Thanks for all the help

Get the right gaskets, they are quite a bit harder than the gaskets that come with Napa filters. Memphis if no one else speaks up about where to find them. Put the EGT guage in and you'll be fine. Most every deuce smokes some when accelerating. Some smoke a lot more than that and ALL M35A1's smoke like no tomorrow. Old Smokey is our 2 1/2 ton dump truck's name. JT

Remember, oil or leaks in general don't run uphill. Make sure you torque the cans...I think it's 65 ft lbs, and don't let them turn when you tighten them or they WILL leak. They all will smoke, especilly if you let them idle for long periods of time. 56 MPH at 2500 is pretty much normal too. Doesn't sound like the pump was turned up. Hope this helps. I think I got my latest bunch of filters from Addirondak Dodge, they came with 2 sets of gaskets, the correc ones and the wrong ones.

Thanks guys, I will call memphis and get the correct gaskets tue morning.... about the smoke, the shop did turn the pump up, but they used what i now know as the servo setting on the fuel density comp. the small thimble like cover and allen wrench. all I know is that it has some git up and go now.... but I wasnt sure if turning up the amount of fuel would raise the EGT to cause concern.... it just smokes dark. I dont want to hurt my engine.

Thanks guys
