sorry EMR

The 465 was the replacement for the 427, so one would figure, its an upgrade, but one needs to say the 427 in the hands as so well put above, will out last the owner.maybe said it about the 465 but it holds true, There have never been any info on failed motors due to lack of oil at start up, i suspect there never will be, And as for these motors being So awesome and the whole trucks to boot , The life of them sitting for 30 years being started by us and driven all over the place in all climates AGAIN< is the biggest testament to the trucks yet. they are still going strong, they sit , they run good, u use em they run good, Any motors and vehicles for that matter i have had need to be used for them not to be worthless pieces of rust and scrap, It is obvious to me they are more than we wil ever use, Good thread, But silly too....:-D
Well Boss
I am sorry that this post to you was silly my question rose from a thread that I read bashing the 465 Multi although the people doing the bashing owned Cummins and Mack powered trucks so it lead me to believe there might be some short commings on this motor. My motive was if the engine has a short orerational life expectancy I would buy another engine and rebuild it over time as I am sure these will eventualy dry up and be gone. Or spend the money on other parts of the truck to keep her running for years so come.

Everyone here has different ideas and different needs. You pay your nickel and take a chance.

cranetruck lives far north of me. He probably preheats his oil because it gets too darn cold.

I live in Texas. It gets to darn hot. I think for my application, better oil pressure on starting is more important that heating oil that is too hot anyway.

I doubt anyone has diagnosed a failure from not having instant oil pressure. Sure. But over years does it take a toll? I do not know for certain.

The shared ideas here more than make up for the shared controversy. Get back to work.
