All,

With the onslaught of M35A2's on GL, I was wondering how many are left out there.... I'll guess less than 3000 across the country that have yet to make it to GL...

What are your thoughts?

I heard from a reliable source that the number in the military system is just over 1,000. This includes M35A2, A2C, the few A1s still in system, and some M109s.

However, I'd guesstimate the number of M35A2 and similar trucks in possession by GSA, as 5 to 10,000.

I only need 5 more. Son's need 3 apiece. I just hope there are 13 more in the system that are runners and close. Ft Meade is as dry as the Gobi desert. Chambersburg is dry as well. There appears to be only 2 places in the east that have them. Alabama and Ft Drum. Both are too far to play hookie and run up and back in a day. What that does is raise the prices on anything that GL has in our area. I guess we need to plan on the end. But all is not lost. Once they are gone then the army will start selling the 900's and hummers, I hope!!! I only want 1 of each.

I seriously had not realized that it was that much of a dying breed:shock:

I am seriously glad I bought one when I did, at least I think I did, they took my money, and have the paperwork...

Anyway With only a 1000 or so left how does that effect us as owners?

The MATES site at North Ft Hood has alot of the TXNG rolling stock.. Some of it is WAY old, but then they have other stuff thats brand new. Then they have some old ball stuff, like a TXNG (Army) M923A2 with a ISO dropside...

Even when the government sells all of them in inventory, a lot of the previosly sold ones will still be available by those that have bought to resell. Once the supply has dried up the prices will probably increase untill the market figuires out what kind of demand there is and what they can sell them for.

I kinda figured on the supply and demand. Like Oil, supply is going down and demand up across the globe, which makes these multi-fuel engines GOLD. I was thinking about buying some more but I do not have the money, I guess I will have to make it happen or I doubt i will BOB my truck.

I thought I heard somewhere in the range of 300 in IA still. I know of one in the Twin Cities area (not already at Ft. Ripley) that is on a base surrounded by A3's,the 900 series trucks, and the FMTV series. Kind of suprised that its still there. Have never seen it started or moved in the 2 years that I've known about it.

I read on wikipedia 35,000 trucks in 2008 with the order to replace with M1078's by 2010. Some write ups on transfers and such. Part of that draw down was the making of M35A3's that combined two A2's for every one A3 that came out?

I am still waiting on my first but the old convertable in the garage is gonna be sold. Will have to look at another for investment or parts either way it works.

Oh it can be done.....but I would not wish that trip on anyone. I have done it twice already & I still have to go back & get my other M818 from Doghead's house in the coming months.

Here is my trip to get my M109 ---> http://www.steelsoldiers.com/military-vehicle-road-trips/26316-long-slow-va-ft-drum-ny-back.html

Then I went @ 5pm on Black Friday this year to Dogheads.....got there at 1am......turned around (in a blizzard) & drove straight home, arriving at 10am. That was a LOT nicer in a 5 ton that can go almost the speed limit though! ;)

They've got to be getting close to the end. How many have been sold in the last couple of years? I'd say atleast 200 a week on average. That's not counting all the ones that never made it to GL which I'm going to guess at a rate of 3 to 1 or more.

GSA has alot of trucks to sell but most of them are not in near as good of shape as the GL trucks.
