How to extend trailer wire harness.

I made a bumper for my M998 and now the original wire harness is too short.
What are my options, other than splicing a 3" pieces of wire, for extending the NATO style trailer wire harness?

Take out the screws on at least 2 to 3 of the last clamps , wire should go aft more.

Yep, do exactly this.

Just found this out on my own a couple weeks ago when I finally picked up a closeout plate for my trailer plug. Frees up plenty of slack.
