Hi folks. Does anyone have experience with refurbishing sun-faded door cards? What did you do?

I've got the door apart while I replace some window seals. I would also like to refresh the door cards while everything is apart.
I've known friends who have refurbished trim with duplicolor interior paint (or similar) with OKish results. This would be my first attempt at painting trim pieces, so any help is appreciated.

Separately, I might as well install some sound mat while I have the door cards off, yeah?

Thanks!

Only time I've had good luck getting paint to stick and not scratch off was heat. I started with a heat gun and got the panel hot then painted it right away. That worked pretty good but I found my oven goes down to 175 degrees so yeah...I put it in there with the door cracked for about 15 minutes. That paint will need ground off. I used the plastic primer first then a top coat...house stunk but it was worth it curing the paint in the stove. It's an electric stove I don't think I'd use a gas stove doing that.

I've had good luck painting them , even changing colors. I wash them with soap and water and a stiff brush, dry well and then (using gloves) wipe down with lacquer thinner, really soak it and make sure to use a LINT FREE RAG, the plastic will get a bit sticky, at that time let thinner flash off and paint with your choice of plastic/vinyl color.

Thanks. Painting is all in the prep work.
