Hydroboost... squealing with brakes and steering?

The M1009 is squealing when I press the brakes hard, or try to turn the wheel to fast. I had no knowledge (and still not much) of the hydroboost system. My inclination was a belt at first, then it started making the same sound with brake application. What should I check and is this a common issue? Thanks.

If you have not checked and replaced the belt, that is the first thing to do. The brakes and power steering both work with hydro pump and both the brakes and steering put a load on the pump thus either can cause belt squeeling.

Thanks, belt looks aged. Some belt dressing made the symptom better. What is this belt called if I go to the parts store? Power steering belt for 6.2 civi or something else?

X2, check fluid level. Sounds like you may have low fluid level, or air trapped in the system somewhere.
