I'm running a civvy 6,2 plastic intake muffler on my M1009, minus the hose to the front which i haven't found yet, so the front opening is next to the front battery tray. Makes a difference in quieting down the sound, doesn't seem to have affected the performance.

Just use it as a wheel chock, I would rather here the crunch crunch then the rattle rattle [thumbzup]

I'm having trouble finding a scrap yard with the intake tube from the radiator support. Any online sources? LMC has been mentioned, no luck there.

Diesels run better in hot weather with cool air.
Use a piece of flexible downspout from your local hardware store. I believe what I used was the 2"x3" oval type. See pic for example. The plumbing section will have a rubber flange to seal the housing to the downspout material. I may have found this flange at Lowes. I used rivets to hold the rubber flange to the plastic, then it slips onto the air cleaner housing nice and snug. Pipe it to your quarter panel. You might need a second flex tube to extend far enough to reach the spot your piping to.

There is plenty of air in the quarter panels to feed the beast.

Sorry, my M1009 is at my warehouse or I'd post actual pics of the install. Maybe later I'll add them.

Awesome idea, Lavarock!!!

As far as the increased intake resistance, it is nil. The losses from minor skin friction (corrugated tube roughness factor) is more than offset by temperature reduction of the intake air. Plus the noise reduction.

I a turbo absolutely quietens the noise of the intake, and if you use mufflers, it will be quieter out of the exhaust. Here is 3 different 6.2's I have made a video clips of. The NA 6.2 is by far the loudest under the hood. The first is a 6.2 with a 6.5 turbo setup. The 2nd is a 6.2 with the Banks Sidewinder and the 3rd is my M1009 before I put the Banks system on it.
