Injection pump line leaking

Try to get this truck road ready again. Has a fuel leak running off the back of the motor down transmission. thought it was the injection pump at first. Closer look it's one of the injection lines down low. I used what tools I have. not able to get even close to it. After work to go to Sears and buy a crows foot. See how I make out that. Either that or I'm removing the intake I would think. Thought I would ask anybody have an idea on this? Have a good one. Time to go to work

When I do that job, I use crows foot and remove the intake manifold. Good to see what is going on, and I don't like to climb up behind motors as much as I used to.

Mike, Save yourself some time and a bit of heartache and just remove intake. You would have to bend in weird ways with it in place and you wont get the leverage you need.

Ditto. Just take the intake off and check all of the lines.

OK ill take it off in the am.. see if i can find some gaskets too unless i can reuse the old ones

Most likely you will have to replace the injector line. They get brittle/thin and start leaking with age as was the case for me. I had 3 of them weeping and decided to replace all 8 lines while I had it apart. Good luck trying to find new lines as they stopped making them a few years back. One good thing I noticed is I'm getting 22 mpg on the highway now.

Got the intake off. few questions. Will cranking down on the line hurt the injection pump somehow? tightened it up some . still leaking. I have a bunch of part motors. So if I need to replace the lines of take it off for them I guess. Can I run the truck with the intake off to check for leaks? Thanks a lot guys

You can loosen the nut and retighten again to try to get it to reseat. But most likely it has a small crack at the flair. Inspect closely or remove it and have it checked at a diesel shop. The lines are subject to cracking at the flairs from vibration and rust especially if the small rubber clamps are missing on the intake cover. Keep in mind that those lines have more than 3,000 lbs. of pressure in them during operation. They are also glassed lined inside so if you bend the pipe the coating inside the lines will be compromised causing more problems in the future. You should be able to run the motor with no intake, just watch for small tools and dirt getting sucked in.

Check the vender below. I bought several from him, the rest of the lines I found at a Chevy dealership. Give them the part #s, When the dealer parts man tells you they are not available have him check their national inventory at other dealerships. By the way, The injector line part #s start at 14033911 and go to 14033918 in relation to each cylinder #. they are the same part #s for the early HUMVEES with the 6.2 motors

Up-date.
The vender I mentioned has injection lines for cylinders #s 1,2,6,8. You may be able to Google the other part #s and see what you come up with. If you only have one or two leaking you may find some used ones that are good.

Finally got to work on this today.Intake is removed. Got to the lines a lot easier. Tighten them up some. Getting some replacement hose in the morning. Replaced the fuel filter base, didn't realize but it was broke. Hopefully I run it for little while and there's no more leak and I get it back together. Having good night guys
