How can I use this to communicate in the cab?

I guess I would need some kind of unit to be the inbetween if I got 2 sets.

You need an intercom system,you also have to think about what features you want. there are several ways to go, the VIC-1 is popular and some go with aircraft intercoms sets, there are several threads on this that have some great info.

If they use the old carbon type mic you can you can hook up a couple of flashlight batteries in series with one sets mic and the earphone on the second set and you will be able to talk and hear each other. It won't be very loud but its cool to play with if you have2 sets and nothing to hook them to.
