I replaced the pump and injectors on my M818 ( they were worn badly) and it cost me just under $1K total.
The truck pulls a belly dump(total weight 70,000 lbs) at 5280' , and while only topping out at 30 mph, have found no need to use low range, even on steep hills.
Took an afternoon to change pump, injectors and adjust valves, and WELL worth the expense and effort.
