Purchase a proper coil spring compression tool. Makes the job easier. And Safer. Unless with the travel all the down you can insert the coil freely, and then jack it into position for the fix. Every type of vehicle is a different job with varying methods.

Thanks for the tip, was afraid to compress the spring all the way. Interesting the TM's don't mention spring compression.

I just finished the front and Im halfway through refurbing the rear. No compression required as long as you disconnect the front upper ball joint (easier than the lower one). The rear spring should drop down after disconnecting the shocks.
