Has anyone found a NAPA seal that will work for the pinion seal? I'm going to need 12 of them at some point. And of those who replaced them was it successful or did it still leak?

I am just throwing this out as I do not know the part # - but the seals should have a mfg # on them - these numbers can be converted also to other mfg's.

Only way I see a pinion seal still leaking is if its not installed correctly - or the output shaft has a groove in it - speedy sleeves can temp repair the grooving.

If no one had a NAPA number I was going to buy one and look into it. My guess is many of these trucks have grooves on the output shaft. Of the twelve possible seals leaking I need to replace 6 of them. One is really bad and the truck only has 500 miles on since it's pmp.

Have you tried Google searching the NSN found in the parts TM?

Eriks has them for 15.00 NAPA could not cross the number. I like Eriks, I'll just get them for him. His prices are the best I've seen.

You might want to check my thread on the 5 ton for my experience with the pinion seal and very poor tm. DO NOT USE A GEAR PULLER! Totally unnecessary! I could never find the seal aftermarket. I ended up on epay with a seller selling 2 at a time very reasonable. No sure on the front as I worked on rears axles but the forward and rear facing seals are the same part.
