Was wondering through the local AZ junkyard in the town my In-Laws live in.
Think it’s a Dana 70 on 85 Chevy K30.
Dana 60 up front.
Rest of truck is partly picked over.

Is this worth gettkng?
I would have to rent a uhaul trailer since we are in our GMC conversion van and tow it back.
Looks like it’s all there.
Sway bar and overload springs.

Ideas?

It looks like a dually rear but the center housing is strange looking. I don't think it looks as HD as the K30 14 bolt cooperate. Does it have a 70 on the gusset of the rear cast housing?

Any traces of green paint..anywhere? Something struck me as odd with the pics. The rear sway bar shouldn't be there. It was not an option on 4 wheel drives no matter who you knew at GM. That leads me to 2 options. It was added at some point and time or it's an M1028A2 or M1028A3. When the military converted their trucks, they did install a sway bar. Look for gear ratio tags front and rear. Either way, looks like $1400 worth of axles or better. If it is military, it has the uber expensive Detroit NoSpin in the back. Much more costly than a 14 bolt NoSpin.

I will go see if their open tomorrow.
Monday for sure on our way home.

Cab did have a green color, but wasn’t OD as we know it. Bed was gone.
It was literally all the way back of the lot, almost against the fence.
Didn’t even dawn on me to look at door jam until I had already left.
Was on mission for other parts and walked up on this.

Both axles are there and the front is a Dana 60.

They want $200 for each axle.
Will take some work to get them but if it’s worth it I will do it.

Worth it? This country has had less presidents than folks who have got a $200 60F. I know, I'm one of them. I would seriously buy both of them in a second. If it's a CUCV, please take a minute and document the truck with pics when you return? I would take the data plates as well if at all possible. It would be worth the cost of a small uhaul trailer for that opportunity.

I will see if they will sell whole truck. What’s left of it.
Much easier to transport and can take back to my shop with proper tools.
Only tools I have with me on this trip are for basic roadside issues.
Nothing close to anything to remove axles.

Will buy them today if their open or Monday.
Also will get any and all truck info.

that looks to be a narrow gauge dana 70 check the frame width , I think those used a 32 inch frame for mounting commercial bodies on them. A buddy of mine had one he put a single wheel pu bed on and the wheels darnd near tucked in under the fenders.

It's not the narrow axle. I have one under my CUCV and you can barely fit your flat hand between the backing plate and the leaf spring.

Tinstar, any updates? This mission interests me.

Knowing my luck, it will be gone or sold before I get to look at it closer and buy it.
Even have the wife crossing her fingers.

The markings are just right of the cover correct?
