Have you looked at or searched for TM 9-2320-279-20-3? There are a lot of references to the crane and some of it's parts in that. If you are not familiar with the military TM numbering system, this is the third of many 20 level manuals published, so if it's not here, it may be in one of the others or even in a 30 level manual. And the correct number for a seal kit would be on the -P series.I’ve been searching for the TM which covers the M977 crane. No luck. There is a seal kit on E-bay but I don’t know which crane it is for. If anyone has the seal kit and/or the TM for the M977 crane, I’m interested.
I have never seen any other than the Grove MHC on the M977. And in that TM it is the only one covered. There are at least two cranes for the M997. Grove and HIAB.
I'm sure you are referring to this kit...There is a seal kit on E-bay but I don’t know which crane it is for.
There were some m939s with Hiab cranes out on the Arizona GSA last yearIn the early 80's, when PATRIOT came out, we were given the M997 with the HIAB crane. It was decided that for some reason I never heard, that the Grove was not "good enough" for transporting and moving the PATRIOT missile rounds from the ground to truck, truck to truck, truck to Launcher and so on. Later, maybe 1987(?) the PATRIOT Project Office had decided to go back to the Grove crane, due to the leakage problems of the HIAB crane. We also had lots of problems getting HIAB repair parts and the TM for the HIAB, (a completely separate TM) was very much sub par. But indeed, for a while, there were two cranes.
Perfect. That’s exactly what I was looking for.TM 9-2320-279-24P starting at Fig. 316
