Y'all,
We're 3 weeks out until the very first military vehicle show of
the season. It is at the Triple X Rootbeer drive-in in Issaquah, WA. See
their website at www.triplexrootbeer.com. The date is April 7, SUNDAY.
No entry fee or anything like that, of course. The address is:9
98 N.E. Gilman Blvd., Issaquah WA 98027
2 years ago we had 42 military vehicles plus trailers, plus 12 emergency vehicles.
Last year we had a torrential downpour, but we pulled it out of the fire and transformed the event
from a vehicle event to a social event when everyone threw some tarps up between a couple of
vehicles, got a heater somewhere, some folding chairs, and we had a great time. No kidding.

We always have a great time at that show. Best burgers anywhere, too.
C'mon down with whatever you have, all eras and conditions welcome. Have
something that is in the middle of restoration? Bring it. We can dance
around it and talk about what you're doing with it. The public loves it.

We never know the weather, of course. It has ranged from warm and sunny
to torrential downpour in years past. Even in the wettest times, we
truly have fun, anyway. It's also a good shakedown cruise to get ready
for the rest of the season.

We will be joined by the Emergency Vehicle collectors, again. They
bring fire engines, cop cars, hearses (hasn't the emergency already
passed?), and rescue vehicles. We park on the east side of the
restaurant and spill farther east into the Group Health lot, if
necessary. Jose, the owner, needs everyone to have their own vehicle
insurance, in case anyone falls or scrapes their pinky on our stuff.

Email me if you have any questions. Feel free to spread this to other
clubs or social networks. See you there!

Ok, 4 days to go and it's looking wet, but not a gully-washer, by any means. They're calling for showers off and on, but it's pretty early to really know. It does NOT look like last year's show, which rained sideways. Even then, it was fun. We turned it into a social event. Bring some pop-up canopies, tarps, bungees, and some rope. We'll lash up a covered area again, if need be. See you there!

UPDATE: Now looking very, very wet indeed. Let's see a show of hands for who is planning on coming. If the Sunday weather forecast looks really bad on Saturday night, it might make sense to cancel the event. Please reply here or on PM.

UPDATE: We are 'GO for liftoff"! The weather is straightening up, finally. It won't likely be sunny, but it doesn't look like the gully-washer, anymore. See you there.

Actually, the microclimatology map from the University of Washington Atmospheric Sciences Department now shows no precipitation AT ALL after about 8am in Issaquah, where the event is. Woo hooooo!
See you tomorrow.

We had about a dozen vehicles there today and NOT A DROP of rain! National Weather Service (ha!) called for 80% chance of rain. Thanks to all who showed up. See you there, next year.
