To reseal a fuel or water can try CYCLE TANK REPAIR KIT-POR 15. That should work and be easy to sanitize.

Not to change the subject but does any one know how to clean one out that has light surface rust inside of it?

citric acid will eat the rust then you can seal the tank.

you can also use a product like ospho or evapo-rust to clean it out before sealing.

....what would be a good sealer/ liner to put in the water can after the rust has been removed.I would like to restore mine and actually use it for drinking water.
