Good Evening folks I have a question for you to ponder and let me know your thoughts please. I have a recovery of a 1985 925A2 coming up and am not sure about batt. condition, I will be using a 2002 Duramax Chevy as the chase vehicle and that pickup has two 12 batteries in it, would it be possible to use two sets of jumper cables from the pickup to the 925 and use that to jump start the 925? And could this be done without damaging the charging system on the Chevy diesel pickup? I am trying to NOT buy all new batteries for the 925 till I figure out the true state of the existing batteries that are in it? Any ideas would sure be appreciated!

Hmm not sure how you'd jumper them as the 925 has 4 batteries. Plus you'll run the risk of screwing up your civy truck's electrical system. Is this a GL recovery? More times than not, GL has a vehicle available to jump your vehicle off. If nothing is available to jump your truck with I've found the inexpensive $60 batteries at Costco have worked well my deuces. That includes zero degree starts. I'm going on my 3rd year with the same batteries...they have outlasted the 6TL hands down May want to consider maybe buying the batteries for back up. Then just return them if you don't use them.

Karl, it is possible to jump the M925 from two batteries.

And yes the batteries from your Chevy will work. However a better solution is slide the battery box out of your M35 into the bed of the pick-up and bring it with. Then you just need one set of jumpers assuming you keep the pair tied together. That's basically what I did. Just be sure you connect the jumper cables into the lead for the starter and the chassis ground. This essentially bypass the other 4 batteries and get the truck running, from there the system will take over.

I would be hesitant to use the Chevy, it can be done, I have but it takes appropriate steps. And I don't really want to lay those out in the thread. Others may disagree people may miss interrupt and I'd hate for someone to be injured wrongfully following my directions.

I think my first option is the best.

3 of the 4 batteries were toast on my truck. We used 2 Jump Packs to start it. Put 1 pack on each set of batteries (the ones in Parallel) and she started right up.

Thanks, But too be 100% honest. I was getting ready to pull my batteries out of my motor coach and looked over and saw my Jump pack sitting there, So I call a neighbor and got his too. We did take cables also, just incase the jump packs didn't have enough amps

The problem I have with jump packs is the cheaper ones are cheap and the good ones are expensive.

It is a good idea but I was going for the low cost approach. Knowing Karl has an M35 he won't be driving while away and that he has a set of jumper cables was my leaning towards that idea. Using it like a jump pack.

If Glen had a set of Slave cables...this wouldn't be an issue. I actually have a set of cables with slave end and alligator clips on the other. Which works really well for the battery box/jump box idea.

I just have to tease Glen...he knows he needs a new set...LOL

Take your battery box out of your truck, and a good set of jumper cables.

Portable "jump boxes" won't do diddly squat on a 900 series truck.

I would remove the batteries from the truck and use the 2 good batteries you have.

His truck has juice, just not enough juice to fire. Who knows how long it has been sitting there dead. I plan to go get it and have it here for him, just take my pickup and a set of slave cables, yes I have them, no I do not have the adapters. They work great between my CUCVs, but not the two pins. GL does have adapters and that is how I got Jeremy's truck and Jason's truck running with my 68 deuce. I need to invest in adapters....

I have a heavy set of jumpers and we jumped Jeremy's truck with that when it was here. It kicked off fine, once I had good connection. His truck also had juice. Jason's truck was dead, when I tried to jump it with regular jumping cables, I could not get a good spin on the engine. My cables are great, but they are definitely not slave cable quality.

I think Karl will be fine. I can jump it and get it running for him, maybe even pull the cables and charge each battery to see if they come up. I agree, jumping with a 12v and two sets of cables can be done, but it is tricky. When I did it, I disconnected the 12v batteries and just used their storage, they might as well have been on the ground or the cab of the jumped vehicle, they were not getting anything from their host vehicle.

My jump pack has 1000 amp cap and Neighbors had 900 and they started my truck.

Exactly, My point. Not everyone on here buys cheap tools from Harbor freight, so you shouldn't think that. it's profiling.

I'll agree 100%. You don't know till you try. I have never tried to start anything before using 2 jump packs. But It did and it saved me some time, by not having to remove and reinstall the batteries in my coach, Which is why I posted it. To Help someone else.

That's the problem with forums, Email's and any form of written words. You meant one thing and It can be taken another way by someone else.

Please share some info on your jump boxes. I need a good one .

I have a Die Hard, This is a pic of the new model. Looks like they dropped it to 950 amps. I have had mine for about 3 years and It works great.
