DayBreak started a recent [12 Apr], and quite interesting, thread in the Aux. Eqpt. forum that got me wondering. I sometimes need to start the whaleboat on the trailer, which, to date, has been living right behind the deuce. This has been a pita...charging/hauling/lifting batteries, and sometimes running 'em down before getting the Westerbeke to run. I am wondering what it would take to go from the deuce slave receptacle back to the boat batteries. The run would be on the order of ~25 feet. Might I fab up a longer-than-std slave cable, and a slave receptacle that pig-tailed to the batteries? Is this fea$ible?

Comments/counsel/warnings/etc. are requested.

As a former tanker there are military slave cables that long and they weigh almost as much as 2 batteries, but easier to carry as you can wear the cables!

As a former Tanker myself I remember those cables ! I also remember the guy that got cut in half jump starting a M60A1rise passive. He stood in between the two Tanks while handling the jumper cable. When the Tank started the other driver tried to move away but accidently put the Tank in FORWARD and slammed into the other Tank straight on ! He was alive until they moved the Tank away. Remember the bows of the Tanks come to a point. From then on there was a Battalion order that all tanks that needed jump starting where to come at an angle to the other Tank.
