Jumping another vehicle with a M1009

Hello all,
Have to ask a dumb question. What is the proper way to jump start another vehicle with the 1009 with original wiring? I once hooked up the + to the strip or bus bar and - to alternator bracket. The system seem to be in series, to me, and was apprehensive to try via terminals because I was not certain.

Assuming the dead vehicle has a standard 12v system, I would use the positive terminal of the front battery and a good frame or engine block ground for the jumper cable locations on the CUCV. Using the 24v buss bars is a bad idea.
