Went to Norman OK to pick up a pair of deuces that I got from GL just to find that someone snagged the bows off of it .....no big deal I got over it, then today I went to Goldsby to look at a truck that I got there from GSA just to realize that the bows had be yanked on it too!!!!!..............OMG, you've got to be kidding me! I could seriously hurt someone, I hate theives.

I doubt that any SS member would ever do that....but in the case that I'm wrong, I hope your trucks catch fire and burn to the ground!

You know it wasn't like the bows in the truck at Norman where just laying in the back either, they where assembled on the truck! You'd THINK that someone would notice guys taking down bows on a truck that wasn't the one they where picking up, it also hapened to be first in line of a bunch of trucks, not like it was all surounded by stuff, it was right out in the open! You'd think that your stuff would be safe from thieves on a military installation......guess not.

Do you have a pic of the item at auction showing the bows? If so, I would have brought it up when I picked up the truck that items were missing.

Maybe they would have pulled the bows off of another truck for you...

I didn't have a pic with me, but I do have a pic of the truck with bows. I asked SGT Lee about it and he said he didn't have any and that was all I got out of him about it. I called Steve at Tinker GL and havent got a response yet. I know there is nothing he can do about it but I'd like confirmation that he is aware of the problem......I guess GL needs to babysit guys when they pick up their stuff. Its sad to say, but its true.

GL has a policy that anyone in the yard must be escorted at all times. I've had darn good service from all the GL field folks I've met but the seem to be pretty loose with the enforcement of the escorting.

I always print out every pic thats available for the truck......then you have the option to tell GL you want your money back, but thats about the only option you have, as GL will not make good on any missing parts....

Also remember, the Norman OK site is a NG base, no GL present......

I had gone to Goldsby to checkout some trucks. I was looking at a winch truck that had the winch removed and was sitting on the back frame (bed was removed). Took pictures of it. The next day I went back to check another truck for Gimmpyrob and the winch was missing. I guess someone needed it more that me. I didn't buy that one.

Did any of you get the rolled M818 from Goldsby or any parts type M809 truck I'm going to need a t-case?? Goldsby is a state foresty place so they will take parts off the trucks for the fire depts all the time. They are just spare parts to them untill they are gone.

Well if thats the policy it sure isn't being followed!! I was at Ft. Riley picking up yesterday (official business) and there was a yard full of yahoo's picking up trucks, and no GL guy in sight, This was out of the shared yard with DRMO no less! I had the DRMO rep with me the whole time I was in the yard because that's their policy and they DO follow it. I saw some really stupid goings on, and a bunch of unsafe things, the DRMO rep and I could do nothing but stand there and watch. So there's the problem, they are not following their own policys, go figure.

It was some guy from the Tahlequah area, (gruber area) he said he has a wrecker business down there, that got all the big trucks.

When we were out at Riley earlier this month picking up our M109A3's that were in a lot down the road from the DRMO. The GL guy was very helpful and careful with the one we had to load on the trailer. He was also our escort,but the office sent some of the above YAHOO's down to the same lot to get theirs w/o anyone. I talked to one and saw the truck he won, then saw him carrying a boarding ladder from another truck over to his. I dropped a dime on him, and the GL Guy Made him wait til last to load and when over his truck to look for "extra" items.

I'll second that, but what I think, is that is the exception to the rule in your case, a couple weeks ago I was picking up from Riley DRMO and I looked all over the yard for the slave cables that the DRMO yard folks leave in the lot as a courtesy, well again there were some folks that had picked up from GL earlier and there had been no rep watching them, guess where the cables went! Believe me the DRMO folks are just as frustrated as we are, problem is it's politics, if they complain they get B**hed at from the higher ups. As a side note if I have to jump a truck I never touch one that is labled for sale by GL and I let the DRMO rep know what I'm doing beforehand.

Sorry to say it like this... but dont worry, the thievery is nothing new or special with DRMO or GL. All around the military, (especially in naval aviation) Steeling to meet operational requirements is a way of life, granted also its done for amusement, cosmetics, and out of stupidity. I am not saying that I agree with it, but I understand the nature of the beast, in your situation, it sucks, it really does, im sorry to hear it and hopefully the situation gets rectified, just keep hasseling them.
