If I can pick you brains oh wizards of mil-spec radios. Can the ls-454 speaker be hooked up to a cb radio like the Cobra 29 loud speaker port? I am looking a buying one from one of our distinguished gentleman in the classifieds if it wil. Maybe changing up the connector? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks[thumbzup]

If I remember right, the LS-454 is a 600 ohm speaker. Actually, an 8 ohm speaker with an impedance matching transformer inside. I would guess that the CB radio is designed to work with 4-8 ohm speakers, so I think you'll need to bypass the transformer inside the LS-454 as well as changing out the connector. It's probably easier to replace the whole cable with a pre-made molded 1/8" phone plug cable from Radio Shack (assuming that the CB uses an 1/8" jack for its speaker output). Disconnect the transformer inside the speaker housing (it should be a silver metal can with 4 connections), remove the old cable, connect the new cable to the speaker, and it should work.

Let us know how it works out!

BTW, I kinda blindly assumed that you can solder there. If not, then it's time to learn, or find a nearby electronics geek friend to help! :)

nf6x is correct - you'll see a metal can inside the speaker with four terminals: two go to the speaker; two go to the cord leading to the plug. All you're interested in is the speaker, so solder a suitable cord right to the speaker terminals and to your CB (just make sure you provide some strain relief so tugging on the cord from outside the box doesn't rip the terminals right off the speakers.

Thanks nf6x for the wisdom. Whats a soldering iron, just kidding. I can solder just not to smart on electrical things. That's what needed to know. I want to put a cb in my deuce but I want it to stay mill-spec where I can. I will let you know how it turns out.

Important last step: take out that unwanted transformer and send it to me :)

The LS-454 will sound great for CB voice reproduction.
