So I did the mexico thing with my 1009 now I am going to take it to Gary In. Taking the southern route. I will be doing some consulting work for a casino. Leaving on the 29th of May. Any suggestions on good stops. If time allows I may go to New Orleans.

I think route 66 would be cool and probaly better. Going to N.O. i would just take I-10E Then 55N
I-10E all the way through Texas to N.O. would be grueling but bound to find some good stops.

Gary Indiana!? Are you, how should I say, learning disabled? I wouldn't go there in a gun truck. What casino are you working for and what did you do wrong! Maybe you should work for Belterra or Hollywood.

Missouri to California 2 or 3 times a year as a kid, still caught a lot Old Route 66 when I-40 was still getting patched together ! Have done it a few times in the last decade, and of course , just not the same !

Once you get across West Texas and Oklahoma, the view gets a little better, IMHO ! Probably the most condensed and original, read run-down into that, is the 4-states corner of Oklahoma, Kansas, which is the shortest state stretch on the whole route, and then into Missouri.

As a little jaded as I have become to it, living in the Joplin area for over 25 years, it is absolutely amazing how many International car clubs, historic and antique car rallies and runs, and motorcycle tours work the heck out of that route !

Add to that your timing, with the weather still decent, and you could really get an eye full of who knows what ! Sounds like I work for the tourism board ! LOL !

If you want to catch the views, thats my 2 cents worth, otherwise I- 44 parallels it most of the way from OKC to St. Louis and beyond ! And it moves at 75 in Ok., 70 in Mo, it just sneaks by the corner of Kansas !

Have fun with it either way ! [thumbzup]

Gimp , thats the shining star of Indiana . You knowthey got such great places to visit like the micheal jackson museum . But it still has a lower crime rate than where i live.

If you decided to come north to I-70 and head east, you could take a little 80 mile round trip detour to Moab and Arches. I think your '09 would love slickrock

Going to gary to do some security consulting for a casino there. They made me a offer I could not refuse. I dont think it will to bad as my wifes family is all in munster Indiana about 10 miles away.
Still undecide which way to drive but I like the route 66 idea. Im bagging New Orleans my time line got advanced a little. Dont know what the flooding will be like in two weeks but I would love to do Memphis. Did Memphis in may get canceled. Im bringing a lap top so I will post travel notes and pics as I head east.
